Horizon Subjugated
Prologue
“They are coming!” Allizer moaned. “They are coming straight
for us, and we cannot escape it!
Diana clipped open
the table lamp instantly and scratched her eyes, peeved. “Well, what is it,
this time?”
Allizer held her head in frustration, “I am sorry for
ruining the slumber party for the fifth time, Diana. But, these nightmares are
just-“
“Chill it out, Sybil.” Diana scowled. “What did you see this time?”
“Well, the events were quite amorphous. I saw a stretch of
pink bombard into our house and dissolve grandfathers’ body into dust. And
there were these things which made no sense at all. Like, I saw Alex, like a
teenager Alex who is traipsing through the streets of NYC like a delinquent. I
saw a flock of weird vampire-like bats who were inclined to suck our souls,
then, there was a sleuth who wore fox-shaped armour and could control the winds
and she wanted to trade with my soul and….”
“You know what this means, don’t’ you?” Diana’s’ jovial
expression darkened. Allizer nodded, tentatively.
“You know I don’t’ have much time, Diana. I won’t be able to
be the one.”
“But you are the one! You have the blood of a Derevonshire
as well as that of a Neonlia. You couldn’t’ just neglect your duty and retire
to the Heavens, Allizer.”
Allizer smiled meekly. “Look, Diana, I know it’s’ quite mean
of me abandon my Hollistaire and leave everything in order to go. That is what
I was born to do. But, there is one thing I assure you of. The next scion of
Hollistaire would be even more potent and deserving than me. She would have a
trio of the most powerful Hollaires of the era, and she would not fail.”
Diana sighed, quite annoyed with Allizer’s’ decision. “Allizer,
Alex is a kid. She knows nothing
about Hollistaire and neither does she have divinity. She is not like you.”
“She isn’t’,” Allizer agreed. “She is better than me, Diana. You will see that yourself, just give her
one opportunity, one!”
Diana sighed, “That is not a big deal. Just remember one
fact, Allizer. She has a weakness all of us are aware of, even the Magentas. I would
bet anything to prove that they would exploit her weakness till the greatest extent
they could.”
“Let them,” Allizer replied, halcyon. “Maybe she would die,
so let her! But, before dying, she
would obliterate the roots of those no-good Magentas. She would avenge my
death. She would subjugate her horizon. This is her destiny, Diana. Help her to
subjugate it.”
Allizer slipped a photo album into Diana’s’ palm. “We are not going to meet for a long, long
time, Diana.” They hugged each other one
last time. As Diana made her way toward the door out of Allizer’s’ bedroom,
Allizer stopped her.
“Promise me you would transmogrify her into the strongest
Hollaire ever, even stronger than any one of us! Diana, promise me you would
lead her to the zenith of Hollistaire and introduce her to the real Horizon.
Promise me you would convert my dreams to Alex’s’ destiny.”
“Dreams remain desires only till they are not achieved, Sibyl.
After that, they would become her destiny.” Diana concluded, rummaging through
tears.
“I promise you that she would become the strongest Hollaire ever.
I promise you that she would reach the pinnacle of power. I promise you. ”
Allizer grinned and let go of her hand, “I knew you would.”
